Our globe seems gripped in terror! The recent events in Paris have touched us all and created a sense of vulnerability. In a confluence of deep significance and through profound inspiration of wise elders, it has been brought to our awareness that we are approaching the 125th Anniversary of The Massacre at Wounded Knee. This was another major moment of terror in our civilization’s story. One many would like to ignore and push into the shadows and then project onto “terrorists out there.”
How are these two events connected? Is the terror of our beautiful blue planet connected to a long story, a 5,000-year story, where our civilization has terrorized much of Earth? This is what we will explore in our Community Call on December 5th. Here is one major connection. Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Grandmother Flordemayo, and Jean Fleury, among others, invite us to move into and beyond the mourning of Wounded Knee into the healing of our hearts. Can we also move through and beyond the current grip of terrorism by opening our hearts to larger Love?
We invite you to join us in reaching back generations to acknowledge what we have done to each other and, most importantly, to all of our relatives within the being of Mother Earth. Join us in reaching forward 7 generations to our children’s children to offer them possibility and relationship rather than estrangement and terror.
We will explore a healing of our traumas in the past, present, and future. As Arvol, Jean, and Flordemayo put it: “We are all awakening. Our hearts are re-opening, re-igniting with the flame of Love, Wisdom, Courage, Power, and Compassion.”
Grandmother Flordemayo will offer prayers and songs to assist our healing. Flordemayo has been a founding member of the Church of the Spiritual Path, the Confederation of Indigenous Elders of the Americas, Institute of Natural and Traditional Knowledge, and the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. She is currently active with her current organization, The Path. The Path’s mission is to conserve and distribute seeds for future generations. “We meet our mission through seed conversation, education, and collaboration with other organizations.”
We are privileged to have her on our Call.
Jean Fleury is an enrolled member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. She co-founded their Kunsi/Unci Grandmothers Society and is the Tribe’s First Peace Ambassador. She is a seasoned therapist and, most importantly, a co-creator of The Healing Hearts At Wounded Knee project. She also is co-author of a stirring Letter of Invitation to the Global Indigenous and other cultural creatives to join in a healing ceremony on December 29, 2015, at about noon. We will hear more on our call December 5th.
As you can see, this is the second Global Wisdom Community Call to tend the seeds of a new civilization. Healing hearts nourish the seeds as they break through.
See you on the waves of community,
